Re: Adirondack Freestyle Symposium

A reminder that the Adirondack Freestyle Symposium is only about a month away. If you have not sent in your registration yet, please do so as soon as possible.  It looks like we will have a good sized crowd this year. Knowing the total head count as early as possible will help us with planning. Remember, those of us running the event are doing so for the 1st time this year. Please make it as easy as possible on us and don't wait till the last minute to register.

Registration forms and information can be found at www.freestylecanoeing.com .

Note:

The Room and Board page which includes the site and insurance fee is reached from a link near the bottom of the registration page.

Re: Adirondack Freestyle Symposium
The 2008 Adirondack Freestyle Symposium was an unqualified success. There were 42 participants, that included 24 students, 9 instructors and other attendees. Fourteen classes were held including an instructor update.

The weather Gods looked over us. Although the entire region experienced significant rain, we were virtually rain free during all teaching hours and during the exhibition.

Following the exhibition we all enjoyed a party with entertainment by the River Rats Rhythm Band, a steel drum community band from the Watertown area.

I'll post a link to photos from the event as soon as they are up. I'll also post dates for next year as soon as they are available.

Anyone looking to improve their canoeing skills, solo or tandem should seriously consider attending AFS next year. Instruction is at all levels from beginner to expert. If you just want to come and hang out with a great group of paddlers, that's OK as well.
