As the spring paddling season approaches, it's not too early to make plans for instruction and good times. There will be several freestyle symposiums during the spring/summer. Although the symposiums are an excellent place to learn freestyle technique, they are really all about learning boat control or as Tom Mackenzie puts it "Obedience Classes for Your Canoe". The first of the season's symposiums is LaLou, just outside of New Orleans and it will be held the 1st weekend in April. Below is a reposting taken from the freestyle message board (www.freestylecanoeing.com). It was originally posted by John Steib, the sponser of the event.
Ready for some soft water, warm air, Cajun cuisine, and an early warm-up for the 08 paddling season? If so, come on down to La Lou Canoe Symposium, April 4, 5, & 6, 2008 in Mandeville, La. You can go to the website at laloucanoe.com for all info and registration forms. See ya in April.

Speaking as one who has attended the last four or five LaLous, I whole heartedly recommend it. The instruction is always 1st rate, the company superb, along with fine Cajun hospitality and food. What a great way to start off the season.
