Re: Where Is Everyone
Well I'm happy to be back in, "Apalach". (See p-2 of "The Watery Wilderness of Apalach, Florida", by Betty M. Watts, Published by APALACH BOOKS, P.O. 3191 Tallahassee Florida in cooperation with the Big Bend Sierra Club.)

I am pretty well convinced that this was my last, "Texas Water Safari", also reminded again why it's called the worlds toughest nonstop boat race.

We finished in 67hrs 20mins. It was fun for the first 18hrs then it became a test of mental and physical will. There were 8 logjams counting one huge tree freshly down across river with high, muddy banks to steep to climb up. The Guadalupe river was in flood stage on the lower part and at night it was really weird. Add a lfew fog patches and it was like nothing I had ever experienced.

Any way you look at it I'm three finishes and zero DNF's for the TWS. A good time to stop I'd say.

I'm ready for some Apalach paddling where there's hard sandy bottom and white sandy beaches instead of thick gooy mud knee deep and deeper.

Nate

Re: Where Is Everyone
Bumping this thread because it is timely despite being a year old already!  WHERE IS EVERYONE?  WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?  WHAT ARE YOUR PADDLING PLANS?

Re: Where Is Everyone
I found this site while killing time during the winter months. I see that it does not get the use i thought i would see. Got two brand new kayaks sitting in the garage waiting for the temps to come up a bit. Or, at least for the wind to die down. Anyone from SW lower MI?

Re: Where Is Everyone
I am wondering the same thing - wonder how we can up the usage. I am a newby who wants to learn and have been coming back to this site a couple, three times a month for months... picking up things in the articles and comments...

Missing Paddlefest in upstate NY this week because of work (doesn't work interfere with good paddlin'!)

I have never been to lower MI... how is the paddling there?
