Thanks again. Not sure how much media coverage is going on outside the Golden (brown) State. My work site is about 6 miles from the Santiago fire in Orange County and I am on 24 hour call for mutual aid assistance so a trip is on hold for now. Not many rivers but Hawaii sounds good though. A few of our employees were evacuated but thankfully to date no loses. Smoke and ash is shifting as the Santa Ana winds dropped and the ocean breezes have returned. Most of Southern California sits inside a basin with the Pacific to the west and multiple mountain ranges (can you say earthquake faults?) all around. Now the normal winds have started to trap the smoke inside the basin though.

Seems like the national coverage is less each day. Is it safe to assume things are getting somewhat better or is the media getting bored?
My son and I are headed out Friday for our last canoe/campout of the season. Remembering what people in SoCal are going thru will help me appreciate the cool/cold and damp that we will most likely encounter.
Continue to stay safe.

Thank GP. Santiago was fully contained this past week and cooler moist air is FINALLY here. Hope you and your son had a good paddle.
